Change of Tint

I've been noticing that my trusty Kiehl's Tinted Moisturizer has been feeling a little light in the bottle lately.

Which means that my fickle eye has begun to wander to new choices...and there are some good ones out there.

First, NARS has finally debuted their own tinted moisturizer with SPF 30.  Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer comes in a really wide range of shades, all named after countries.  I would probably need to go with Finland or Alaska, just to give you an idea of how pale I am.  The formulation sounds amazing, with anti-agers (yup, I'm also that old) and UVA protection in addition to regular old-SPF.

Second, I've always heard fab things about Jouer's Luminizing Moisture Tint, but was never able to try it out.  I finally made it down to Bendel's (where they carry the whole line) and snagged some samples.  I think they took pity on me since I was carrying the baby at the time.  Due to an unfortunate napless morning situation going on here, I haven't had time to test it out yet, but review to come...

Third, Jenn Falik posted an ode to BB creams (oh, BB equals "beauty balm," apparently) on her blog recently and featured them in the new hottest products.  All three of them sound amazing, but if I'm just dipping my toe in the water, I think I might try the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector.  Mostly because I can pick it up at a drugstore instead of having to brave the beauty floor of a department store.

Any others I should consider?

  1. Personally my fav tinted moisturizer is Laura mercier's oil free one w SPF. Gives decent coverage & SPF in one. I've been mulling over getting Josie Marin's one, though. It goes on white then blends to match your skin tone & give good coverage. On my pale face it matched perfectly & hid the uneven skin tone, which is impressive. I may give it a whirl once I'm done w my current tube. However I HIGHLY recommend Dr Dennis Gross' vitamin D serum (at sephora). It goes on before moisturizer & is an absorbable form of vitamin D. I got a sample & have been using it for about a month-I do actually notice a difference in my skin. Try it out!

  2. I recently switched from Laura Mercier's tinter moisturizer to Bobbi Brown's Skin Foundation. I loved the way Laura Mercier went on, but it didn't last more than a couple of hours for me. Bobbi Brown's foundation is still super light and was just that next step up. I'll definitely be buying a second bottle when the first is gone.

  3. So funny, I just read the two comments above and mine is totally related to both. I LOVE and use every day Bobbi Brown's skin foundation, but I recently picked up Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer (they had it in those little bins by the register at Sephora). The coverage is more sheer, but I love that it has SPF and is two items in one step. For me, it's perfect for the weekend mornings around the house, esp if we have company and I need a little something; the gym, skiing, or doing sports outside. I do stick to the Bobbi Brown for daytime, office use. Hope this helps!

  5. I got the Garnier BB Cream after a glowing recommendation (pun sort of intended) on another blog. I'm in love with it -- moisture, SPF, improves skin over time and enough coverage for everyday when you don't want to pile on foundation (or don't have time). I set it with a little powder and spot conceal where ever it's needed. Garnier should pay me for how much I'm promoting this stuff, but it's really great! :)
